Who We Are
‘A’ohe hana nui ke alu ‘ia.
No task is too big when done together by all.
Who created ClosingGrants? How is this possible?
ClosingGrants is the brainchild of three very experienced women who have worked in human resources and benefits for decades.
Together they’ve developed partnerships with private foundations, housing affordability non-profits, real estate brokerages, and mortgage loan originators to create a partnership capable of such a unique impact.
Inspired by generous gifts from large national private foundations for whom they’ve worked, our founders launched ClosingGrants as the newest employee perk/benefit available to any US-based entity that seeks to promote homeownership, financial stability, and wealth-building among its people.
Founded and operated by non-profit executives and former Capitol Hill staff, we have leveraged generous financial and time commitments from four entities:
- Donors and private family foundations who made both the original and ongoing financial investments to fund the launch, overhead, and staff expenses to operate ClosingGrants;
- Mortgage originators who return 1% of the value of a mortgage back to the borrower;
- Real estate brokerages and their agents who reduce their normal commission rate by 20%; and
- Nontraditional grant-makers in their quest to solve America’s housing affordability crisis, spent years creating and fostering a network of influential business leaders who are committed to fostering the environment within which ClosingGrants was born.
This collaboration provides the much-needed “last mile” funding. Together, this collaboration of employee benefits and mortgage professionals bring something new and unique to the employee benefits and member perks realm.
We are united by a common mission: to make the cost of housing more affordable.
